How to find the right church for you. Prayer is the first step to find the right church. God is as concerned about your success in choosing a good church as you are. Ask for His guidance and expect to receive it. Look for a church that teaches the Bible, God's written word to the world. There should be opportunities to study the Bible with others in addition to Sunday morning worship. When you have questions, the pastor or teacher you're working with should be open to answering your questions clearly or helping you find the answers. There are no wrong questions! You should also see evidence that the church works to apply Bible teaching particularly within the church family and in its work in the world. Look for a church that is reaching out into the community to serve others and share its faith. Look for a church that will take the time to help you grow in your faith and then help prepare you to share your talents within the church and the community. Look for a church that prays together and regularly for its members. Find someone to help you become more confident in developing your prayer life. Remember, just as there is
a time of adjustment when a person starts a new job or a family
welcomes a new member, it takes time to become comfortable in
a new church. As you choose your church, give those you visit
a fair chance. None will be perfect in every way, as none of us
as individuals are. It may be wise to begin your search by asking
yourself what you expect to find. You're on a wonderful journey.
Go with patience and persistence, and know that God wants you
to feel His love through the fellowship of believers. God's first plan is your
salvation. He wants you to join Him for eternity in heaven. He
has given use clear instruction that Jesus is the only way. |
